The 2013 opening weekend at the Lodge and Spa at Brush Creek Ranch is only a few short weeks away! It’s a truly special time on the ranch when the flora and fauna begin to reawaken and bloom. We have about 55 seasonal staff members beginning to arrive next week, and we’re preparing to open the doors on what will be our most exciting season yet.
Pronghorn herd sightings will soon be plentiful on the ranch, with the continued awakening of springtime.
April has been a fun and busy month for us. I just returned from Chicago with some of my team where we pulled a reverse “City Slickers” and took a piece of the ranch to the big city for a unique corporate meeting planning event. We set up an archery course so attendees could test their aim and get a taste of one of the many activities and adventures we offer on the ranch. It was a huge hit and we received tremendous feedback about our adventure meeting packages for corporate groups.

We are also thrilled to have Brush Creek Ranch featured as the backdrop in a stunning fashion shoot by Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine, on stands this month. It was a pleasure to host the Martha Stewart team last fall for the project, who are truly the most talented, professional, and creative group in the business. They captured the absolute essence of Brush Creek Ranch. Our refined rustic luxury and rich ranch history shine through beautifully in these photos.
This month also saw the addition of our new Director of Operations to the Brush Creek team. It is my pleasure to introduce Schelby Betz, who will oversee all operations on the ranch, including pre-arrival and all on ranch experiences. Schelby comes to us from the Hilton Garden Inn in San Francisco, where she served as the Assistant General Manager for the past year. Prior to that, she held a variety of positions in the White Lodging Hospitality world, including General Manager at the Residence Inn in Golden, Colorado, Senior Sales Manager at SpringHill Suites in Westminster, Colorado, and Director of Sales at Fairfield Inn & Suites in Key West, Florida. She was also named to White Lodging’s Presidents Council the past four years. I am thrilled to have Schelby with us and know she will be integral in helping create those unforgettable guest experiences here at Brush Creek.

Schelby hails from Colorado, and actually has some fun family ties to the Carbon County area of Wyoming where Brush Creek Ranch is located. Her mother grew up in the town of Rawlins, and her grandfather, who managed the Sinclair Oil Refinery for 30 years, called square dancing at all of the local ranches in the area.
In keeping with our vision to preserve the true spirit of the west, we are offering two summer packages this season that I am really excited about. The first is our 4th of July weeklong celebration, which includes nightly live entertainment, a rodeo, fireworks, barn dances, gourmet cookouts, and unlimited activities for you and your family.
